TRIO VIDEO'S T48 HANDLED POOL FEED
FOR PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURATION - 01/29/97
Trio Video's T48 was hired by NBC to handle the media pool feed of inaugural events that took place inside and outside the Capitol Building. This included Mr. Clinton's swearing-in ceremony, conducted by Supreme Court Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist, and Mr. Clinton's inaugural address to the nation.
All five networks, ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox and NBC, plus a number of other broadcast subscribers all received their video from the NBC shoot.
For NBC, Margie Lehrman produced, Max Schindler directed, Betty Nevins was production manager, and Mike Mathews was technical manger.
Schindler, who has directed several inaugurals, said that for this one, he devised several innovations. One was a jib-mounted camera that covered crowd reaction shots. Another was a lipstick camera next to the presidential podium and behind the bullet-proof glass that captured Mr. Clinton at various times during his address.
Another major addition, Schindler said, was a robotic camera mounted high on the dome of the Capitol that provided dramatic bird's-eye shots using an 18:1 zoom lens with wide-angle adapter.
Max Schindler, Jr., was technical director, and Marty Carver was engineer in charge of T48.
