TRIO VIDEO UPGRADES AND RECONFIGURES
VIDEOTAPE OPERATIONS OF ENTIRE FLEET - 03/24/99
Trio Video today announced the completion of a full upgrade and reconfiguration
of videotape operations on its entire mobile fleet. Taking advantage of
some of the downtime that was created by the NBA lockout, Trio managed
to re-tool and reconfigure improvements in the videotape rooms of all
five mobile units. "Like most mobile vendors, we had to do our best to
endure the negative effects of the missed NBA telecasts, ...but everyone
at Trio committed to make the best of that bad situation and as a result,
we've got some pretty positive changes to show for it," says Keith O'Brien,
director of production and marketing.
X2, Trio's 52-foot expando, now rides with three Sony DVW-A500 DigiBeta
decks, which also playback BetaSP tapes. In addition, two Sony DVW-500
DigiBeta decks and one Sony BVW-75 BetaSP machine round out the standard
tape complement. In response to X2's consistent high marks for its tape
room layout, the room was used as a template for redesigning the T48X
and T48 units.
T48X, Trio's 48-foot expando, was reconfigured with a standard tape complement
of four Sony DVW-A500 DigiBeta decks and one Sony BVW-75 BetaSP deck.
Taking from X2's design, the T48X tape wall now has the same general layout,
including an improved monitoring and communications scheme. The former
back bank of ceiling-to-floor tape equipment has been replaced by a countertop/desk
unit that also mimics the X2 design.
The same upgraded "single wall design" is also onboard Trio's T48 unit
which now has a standard configuration of four Sony BVW-75 BetaSP decks
and one Sony DVW-A500 DigiBeta deck. Jack Walsh, Trio Video partner, explains,
"Phasing out the one-inch tape machines gave us the room and ability to
provide virtually the same tape operations areas at the tape walls in
X2, T48X and T48."
Not to be forgotten, T45 and T30 were also reconfigured. Both of them
now ride with a standard tape configuration of four Sony BVW-75 BetaSP
decks and one Sony BVH-3100 one-inch machine. All five Trio units still
carry one VHS deck each, while T48 and T45 also each ride with an additional
" U-matic machine.
In addition to improved tape operations, this redesign of the entire
fleet allows for easy advance reconfiguring to accommodate virtually any
mix of tape decks and formats that a client may require.
