TRIO'S AWARD-WINNING NEW 52-FOOT
EXPANDO UNIT ON THE ROAD - 06/11/98
Trio Video's newest mobile unit -- X2 -- is now in service. At the 1998 NAB
Show, in Las Vegas, the 52-foot expando received the Television Broadcast
"Editors' Pick of Show" Award for "Innovative Truck Design." X2 is Trio's
second expando, bringing to five the number of units in the company's fleet.
Designed specifically to handle large-scale entertainment and high-profile
sporting events, X2 features a 47-foot expando section, 82-monitor production
wall and a more than 60-monitor videotape room. With an expanded floor area
of almost 650 square feet, all operating sections are accessible without
having to step outside the truck.
"X2 is the direct result of Trio's continued commitment to service the high-
end entertainment and sports markets," says Keith OBrien, director of
production and marketing. "Because the industry is in such a state of flux
during the technology conversion from analog to digital to hi-def, we made a
conscious effort with X2 to emphasize a continuing audio expansion and
increase operational functionality and versatility," he said.
X2 features the 60-input, 24-track CALREC S2 stereo audio board and the Sony
DVS-7000 3-M/E 38-input switcher with DME-7000 dual-channel DVE.
Other equipment includes Sony BVP-900 studio and BVP-950 handheld cameras
(August delivery), as well as Sony BVW-75 and DVW-500 tape machines with DNF
slomo controllers, PESA's Jaguar 64x192 video and Cougar 32x32 4-level audio
routing systems, Chyron Infinit! and RTS 12-channel intercom/IFB
communications system.
Trio Video's fleet also includes a 48-foot expando, 48-foot, 45-foot, and
30-foot units.
