GVG KALYPSO PRODUCTION SWITCHER INSTALLED
ON TRIO VIDEO'S X2 MOBILE UNIT - 09/29/01
Trio Video has completed the installation of the Grass Valley Group's Kalypso Video Production Center
onboard its X2 digital expando mobile unit, as announced today by the Chicago-based mobile television production company.
In addition to the 4-M/E, 80-input Kalypso digital production switcher with its six built-in channels of 2D perspective DVE,
Trio has also installed a fully-configured dual twin-channel Accom DVEous as the companion digital video effects system.
Additionally, the 3-M/E, 60-input Sony DVS-7000 video production switcher and companion 2-channel DME-7000 digital video
effects system, which was formerly on X2, has now been installed in its analog mode on T48, Trio's 48-foot straight truck.
Both the X2 and T48 installations were planned and completed on schedule in order to insure being fully operational for
the start of the 2001-02 NHL and NBA seasons.
"Despite the continued success of our Sony production switchers and DME's, we are happy to be continuing our fleet
diversification by once again adding a Grass Valley switcher after an almost seven year absence from our new installations,"
says Jack Walsh, Trio Video Managing Partner.
"Due to their familiarity with the GVG interface, we found that some of our higher-end sports and entertainment TD's showed
a preference for a GVG switcher," says Keith OBrien, Director of Production and Marketing for Trio Video. "Whereas one can
never be all things to all people, the addition of the Kalypso on X2 allows us to maximize our ability to be the most to as many as possible."
In addition to the Grass Valley Kalypso switcher, the video production switcher inventory of Trio's five-unit fleet
now includes two Sony DME-7000's, one Grass Valley GVG-3000 and one Grass Valley GVG-300.
