TRIO CONTINUES HI-DEF FLEET EXPANSION
WITH INTRODUCTION OF PHOENIX - 12/04/04
Trio Video continues its high definition expansion with the addition of Phoenix, Trio's second high definition mobile unit, which was rolled out earlier today from its national headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. Phoenix comes online less than a year after Tango, which was introduced in December of last year.
"In addition to WGN's decision to go hi-def and our new relationship with Comcast SportsNet Chicago and their high-def needs, it was immediately obvious that one truck wasn't going to be enough," says Jack Walsh, Trio's managing partner. "The addition of Phoenix to our fleet not only allows us to fully service WGN and Comcast, but also provides us with the added inventory to offer our national clients."
Phoenix was designed and fully integrated by Trio's own engineering staff at its headquarters in Chicago. "We've always integrated our own facilities," says Roger Redensek, Trio Video's technical manager. "It's part of our tradition of service and reliability that allows us to stand out among the competition."
Phoenix' 53-foot trailer, with 47-foot expandable side, is capable of originating broadcasts in both 720p and 1080i native formats, as well as standard definition.
It features the Grass Valley Kalypso 4-M/E 90-input HD production switcher with Accom DVEous MX dual twin-channel HD/SD DVE and Calrec Sigma 144-input 62-channel digital audio console.
Other equipment includes Grass Valley LDK-6000 HD cameras, Chyron HyperX and Infinit! graphics systems, Grass Valley Trinix 96x96 HD/SD video router, Pesa Jaguar 64x128 SD video router, Grass Valley Concerto 128x128 AES/analog audio router and RTS Adams 64x64 matrix communications system. Video playback and record systems include Sony SRW-5000 HD multi-format, HDW-M2000/1 HDCam and DVW-A500 Digibeta tape machines, as well as EVS HD LSMXT 4-channel video disk recorders & maXS 2-channel video servers.
In addition to Tango and Phoenix, Trio Video's fleet also includes a standard definition 48-foot expando and a standard definition 48-foot straight truck.
