Spring/Summer 2009

The 2008-09 season left no doubt that Chicago is one of the best sports towns anywhere, as both the Cubs and White Sox battled all the way to the NL/AL Division Series and the playoff heroics of the Bulls and Blackhawks thrilled fans everywhere thanks to the outstanding coverage of our broadcast partners - Comcast SportsNet Chicago and WGN.

On the entertainment side, not only did we collaborate on the NHL Season Opening Rock and Roll Spectacular, but we also had the pleasure of working in concert with our clients to broadcast some of the best music and comedy festivals in North America. Here are just some of the details:

Cold Rock (and Roll) on Ice
Trio’s HD mobile unit Rhythm was on hand for the opening day spectacular, NHL Face-Off Rocks™, produced by NHL/Chloe Productions. The concert, headlined by the world’s greatest arena rock band, Def Leppard, aired on Versus/CBC networks and was hailed as "a celebration of the fans - inspired by the fans." Def Leppard showcased their hit, "C’mon, C’mon," which played at arenas throughout the 2008/2009 NHL season. Check out http://www.nhl.com/ice/news for more information.

Chicago’s Home Town Boys plus Rock and Roll Legends
Fuse TV had an early holiday present for rock fans. HD mobile unit Rhythm was on hand as Fall Out Boy launched their new album, "Folie a Deux", with a live concert at historic Chicago Theatre. The playlist not only included their classic hits, but also featured a sneak peek at their new album, including the hit single "I Don't Care".

Later in April, Rhythm was also on location for the star-studded Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, which aired live on Fuse TV from Cleveland Ohio's Public Hall. Millions watched as a chosen few of music’s most legendary acts, including Metallica and Run-D.M.C., joined fellow rock legends in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Honor Roll. A Once in a Lifetime Experience
Beatles legend, Sir Paul McCartney, along with The Killers and The Cure, headlined at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, as Trio Video celebrated its 3rd annual participation, with HD mobile units Tango and Beta, at this memorable and inspiring 3-day festival. Shot in impressive 23.98 PSF, the event was produced by AEG Goldenvoice and Springboard Productions and broadcast live by AT&T Music.net to the internet and, for the first time, cell phones nationwide. He’s "The Boss"
Bruce Springsteen and two nights of Phish continued to prove to America why the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival is considered, by many, to be North America’s premier music experience. It was Trio Video’s 4th year supplying HD trucks Tango, Rhythm, and Beta, as well as the overall tech support to Bonnaroo producers - AC Entertainment/Superfly and ThirdWave Productions. Trio supplied over 25 cameras and 40 video tape decks to cover the action at North America's largest multistage/multiday music festival for AT&T Music.net and Fuse TV. This year marked Bruce Springsteen’s participation in his first North American festival. For more information go to www.bonnaroo.com

Laughing all the Way Home
Immediately following Bonnaroo, Trio’s production team raced back to Chicago to supply HD truck Phoenix and extensive tech support for the inaugural TBS/Just for Laughs - Chicago Comedy Festival - a multiday/multi-theatre event. Starting at the Chicago Theatre, Ellen DeGeneres headlined her Bigger, Longer & Wider Show produced by WAD/ALD Productions along with production support from Warner Brothers and Telepictures. Across town at the Vic Theatre, Trio parked Phoenix at the crack of dawn to set up for Martin Short’s "Let Freedom Hum" plus David Alan Griers’ "Comedy You Can Believe In" (both produced by Dakota North Entertainment) - all three very funny shows aired consecutive nights on TBS. From Comedy to Drama
While our HD truck Phoenix was at the Comedy Fest, HD mobile units Tango and Rhythm were supplying over 18 cameras and technical support to Comcast SportsNet Chicago and WGN-TV broadcasts of the annual MLB Cross Town Classic at Wrigley Field. Many passionate fans consider the traditional mid-summer classic to be a must-see event. We heartily agree.
