TRIO VIDEO FAX CHECK – Fall 2010 / Winter 2011
Welcome back to Trio Video Fax Check. Chicago snowfall hasn’t been the only thing setting records this winter. Once again, Trio had the honor of supplying trucks and tech support for the historic and record-breaking world broadcast of the Chicago Marathon. In addition, Trio trucks traveled throughout the US and Canada providing services for more than 100 NHL and NBA broadcasts… as well as continuing our ongoing collaboration with award-winning classic rockers, comediennes, concert promoters and major networks. Here are some of the details:
A Multi-Decade Journey Continues
The NBC5 Chicago-Bank of America Chicago Marathon, originally a struggling road race of 4,200 runners back in 1977, has come a long way over the last three and a half decades. This Chicago tradition, considered “a world class event” by participants and experts alike, broke all records with more than 45,000 registered participants. Trio was pleased to once again provide HD mobile unit Phoenix and extensive tech support for this worldwide broadcast. For more information, go to www.chicagomarathon.com.
Over 100 NBA and NHL Broadcasts… and Counting! Not only was Trio on hand for almost every Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks home game this season (due, with very special thanks, to flagship broadcasters, Comcast SportsNet Chicago and WGN TV,) but our inaugural production agreement with Dome Productions saw our trucks (Tango, Phoenix, Tempo and Rhythm) travel to just about every NHL city in both the US and Canada. Next up...we’re looking forward to a great post-season with both our Chicago hometown teams! Award Winning Entertainment Congratulations to C3 Presents, winner of the 2010 Top Independent Promoter Award from Billboard Magazine. The Austin-based promoter is one of the largest concert promoters in the United States. For the 5th and 4thconsecutive years, respectively, at Chicago’s Lollapalooza Music Festival and the Austin City Limits Music Festival in Texas, Trio Video’s engineering crew supplied equipment and high-speed local area HD networks that fed live music performances to more than 25 on-site locations, as well as originating their nationwide web distribution. The festivals were headlined by Lady Gaga, Muse, Sound Garden and The Eagles, with all media content produced by Springboard Productions.
Plus, we’re very happy to extend our ongoing collaboration with C3 by providing HD equipment and tech support to their C3 Casinos Division for the groundbreaking JayZ, Beyonce’ and Cold Play New Years Eve concert event, which took place at the brand new Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas earlier this year. Check out www.c3presents.com for the latest information.
A Chicago Classic in Memphis Styx, the legendary Chicago band known for melding the "style" of progressive rock with the "power" of hard rock guitar, made magic once again performing their classic ballads for the celebrated Grand Illusion/Pieces of Eight Concert tour at the historic Orpheum Theatre in Memphis, Tennessee. The concert, executive produced by Third Wave Productions and soon to be released on DVD, was recorded live using HD MU Tango and its engineering crew. For more information, take a look at www.styxworld.com.
A Double Emmy Award Winner MU Tango, with support unit Beta and Trio engineering, were on hand as comedienne and bestselling author Kathy Griffin performed her latest show "50 And Not Pregnant" at the beautifully restored Riverside Theatre in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Paul Miller and Kimber Rickabaugh, of nationally known RickMill Productions, helmed the comedy special that showcased Ms. Griffin’s well-honed talents featuring a fresh skewering of pop culture, politics and celebrity missteps. The sold out show will air on the Bravo cable network beginning March 17th. Check out this and other shows on www.rickmill.com and www.bravotv.com.
It’s a Wonderful Life According to the Boston Globe, the inaugural Life is Good Festival in Canton, Massachusetts "was a whole new entertainment concept - a harmonic convergence of tattoos and strollers." Headlined by Jason Mraz, Ben Harper, Corrine Bailey Rae and Grace Potter, over 25,000 festival-goers of all ages attended the Festival at Blue Hills which was webcast on YouTube, sponsored by Chase Freedom Card and produced by Superfly/ThirdWave Productions. Trio Video engineers supplied webcast equipment & tech support as several generations came together to enjoy rock & roll and raise over $600,000 for kids in need. A Tradition Continues With Two Great Networks All of us at Trio are very grateful to have recently celebrated our 5th consecutive year supplying MU Tango, support unit Beta and continuing engineering expertise to the NFL on Fox, as FOX Sports celebrates their 17th straight year as the broadcast home of the NFL.
In addition, we also celebrate our 2nd consecutive year of supplying mobile units Rhythm, Phoenix and Tempo to ESPN - Americas leading cable sports network – for their continuing coverage of college football, basketball and the NBA. Much thanks to both of these great networks. Check out msn.foxsports.com/nfl and espn.go.com for more information.
That's it for now. As always, a special thanks to our many great clients. We appreciate your taking the time to let us check in and keep you in "The Loop."
